Welcome to AHHCT

Striving to help the needy.

Today, a large number of people live with poverty, natural and man-made calamities, and other difficulties. Most South Africans are fortunate to live in a peaceful, developed nation. We believe that while enjoying the benefits of our success, we must go out and assist those who may not be as fortunate, inside and outside South Africa's borders.

About us

Our mission and vision

Africa Helping Hands Charitable Trust is an Islamic non-profit humanitarian aid relief organisation, registered in the Republic of South Africa. We strive to provide upliftment to the most needy individuals irrespective of race or religion.

We provide support and assistance to needy individuals and communities. We wish to improve the lives of people in need and give them the resources they need to build better futures for themselves and their families. We aim to provide access to essential services such as food, water, education and healthcare, and to empower people to improve their lives and achieve their goals.

We are committed to working closely with local communities and other partners to ensure that our aim is fulfilled. Our help is entirely humanitarian and unrestricted: transparent, built for times of need, regardless of race, religion, colour, class or political affiliation.

Our causes

What we do

We are committed to assisting in the change of the environment, providing solutions for those most in need, reducing poverty, empowering communities and enhancing quality of life.

1

Education and skills development

Millions of children in underdeveloped nations are excluded from the advantages that come with a quality education. Our makaatib give them a place to learn.

2

Emergency relief

Natural and man-made disasters leave behind extensive damage, loss of life and instability. We respond where we can reach.

3

Disaster preparedness

Helping communities prepare before the next flood, drought or displacement arrives.

4

Orphans and child welfare

Many of the children in our makaatib are orphans of long-running conflict. They are fed, taught and cared for.

5

Food aid and nutrition

Daily meals for students coming from impoverished households, and food relief for families in need.

Our makaatib

17 makaatib across the Democratic Republic of Congo

A maktab is a school where children learn to read the Qur'an and the basics of their Deen. Across Lubumbashi, Kolwezi and Kalemie our makaatib teach children who would otherwise have no classroom at all. These photographs were taken at our makaatib in the DRC in 2026.
